Khamzat Chimaev’s nickname, ‘Borz,’ translates to the wolf in Chechen, which is a vicious animal that rules its territory ferociously. The wolf is also the Chechen national animal, where Chimaev was born.
‘Borz’ debuted in the UFC octagon in 2020. At UFC Fight Island 1, he defeated John Phillips by submission. He also received a Performance of the Night bonus for his triumph.
Chimaev then went on to win two straight matches against Rhys McKee and Gerald Meerschaert. His outstanding efforts won him two additional $50,000 incentives.
