Mikhail Gorbachev was married to Raisa Gorbacheva from September 1953 until she died. Raisa passed away on 20 September 1999 at age 67 after battling leukaemia. Mikhail and Raisa had a child called Irina Mikhailovna.
Raisa Gorbacheva was born Raisa Maximovna Titarenko on 5 January 1932 in Rubtsovsk, West Siberian Krai, Russian SFSR in the Soviet Union. Raisa Gorbacheva was an activist and philosopher. Raisa was also a fundraiser who raised funds to support the preservation of Russian cultural heritage, fostering of new talent, and treatment programs for lleukemia in children.
